BROAD STREET STATION
This station was demolished in the 50's
(one of the first great Stations to be
raised) and was Built to be the
Headquarters of the PRR. In my city
this tragedy never happened and this
station will be the centerpiece of my
layout with a Magnificent Head house.
Like the prototype it has a large shed
but it only has 4 tracks.
GG-1 about to leave the station under
energized catenary. Matchbox cars are
Temporary. Since I would need 300
(1:87) cars for the whole city.
The station shed is long enough for
3-1/2 passenger cars. The railroad
viaduct crosses 18th street
Station is lighted by Ikea Diode lighting
Kit. The head house is still in the design
process
There is a wye located in front of the
station for turning trains and Highline
trains
Throat of the Station
"Going Green" One of the best things
about making catenary is finally painting
it and seeing how good it looks above
your electric engines
"Going Green" One of the best things
about making catenary is running
electric trains from the wire like the
Prototype!. Its all worth the work!!!
Electric Parade!!!
All these electrics are running off of live
wire and are DCC controlled
Complex catenary above the Station
Throat - look at that double cross over!
Still have to ballast and construct station
platform.
Trolleys outside the station
Through the magic of ebay I was able
to replace all the matchbox cars on my
layout with 1:87 vehicles cheaply. Now
have almost 170 vehicles. The BS
station area is reserved for the 50 &
60s vehicles
New 1:87 wire work truck is being
put to work
With some more 50s and 60s cars the
scene comes alive. The only thing that is
missing is a PTC PCC or Brill trolley on
the streets and some period posters
HHP is awaiting its next assignment
outside of Broad Street Station
At the throat of Broad street Station
there is a Y. The curve with the inclined
catenary to the right leads back to the
corridor.
Adjacent to the wye is the Somer
Trolley Maintenance Facility
Septa Aem7 rounds the curve
